Sussex cattle
The Sussex cattle is a large hoofed mammal, with a black colored coat. It has a thick, muscular body that people harvest for meat. Males grow larger than females, with the average male, or bull, weighing about 1,800 lbs. and the average female, or cow, weighing about 1,200 lbs.

Sussex cattle don’t have horns but they use their powerful head and neck to bring down tall woody vegetation to where they can reach it to eat. Their strong legs and good feet mean they can travel long distances over rough ground with ease.

Both male and female wild cattle species have horns, and the bull’s horns are larger and thicker than the cow’s. Unlike humans, cattle have panoramic vision, which means they can see almost all the way around themselves without moving their heads.

What are the uses of Sussex cattle?
Once used for draught work, particularly strong in country considered too difficult for horses. Some of the Sussex cattle bred for draught work were huge.For the purpose of this article, we will refer to what most people know as mini fluffy cows as their proper nomenclature, “Highland Cows.” Highland cows, aka Scottish Highland cattle, have taken the world by storm with their incredible appearance, long hair and big personalities.
