The Afrikaner, also known as the Africander, is an indigenous South African cattle breed with a history dating back to 1652. Originally herded by the Khoi people, it is believed to have derived from the longhorned Zebu and the Egyptian longhorn. Afrikaner cattle look very different from European or British breeds.
